PROJECT SUMMARY
Five-D was engaged to deliver the Tauhara Super Duplex Piping Upgrade.  A schedule-driven project that required a fast and accurate turnaround to enable fabrication and field installation. Leveraging high-resolution 3D scan and survey data provided by BTW, the Five-D team developed precise 3D models and 26 fabrication-ready isometric drawings, detailing over 45 brownfield tie-in locations in less than 4 weeks.

The accuracy and clarity of the spool dimensions and flange alignments enabled shop fabrication and precision drop-in installation of the new spools, thereby reducing both installation time and downtime on a critical, time- and cost-sensitive project.


SCOPE

  • Interpreting BTW cold point cloud survey / model and creating a 3D model new Super Duplex piping spools

  • Produce isometrics for fabrication of new spools – including accurate detailing of flange alignment and rotation on isometrics

CHALLENGES'
Schedule:

  • Originally agreed 6-8 weeks with client, but delivered in less than 4 to meet shutdown fabrication schedule.

  • Work packs are broken across three separate fabrication/install service providers, requiring an immediate start.

Accuracy:

  • Significant spool distortion and flange misalignment/rotation on individual spools meant pin point accuracy and careful checking was required.


OUTCOME
Delivery of 3D models and Fabrication isometrics significantly ahead of schedule, below budget and to a very high quality.
